According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) someone is injured in an auto crash every 18 seconds. A person dies in a car crash every eleven minutes and 1 in 4 workplace fatalities involves a vehicle crash.
Motor vehicle crashes cost employers billions of dollars every year in medical care, legal expenses, property damage and lost productivity not to mention the personal and emotional cost that can not be measured.
Insurance Risk
Insurance is based on recognized risk, derived through careful calculation and hundreds of statistics. As the amount of risk for insuring a driver goes up or down, the cost of insuring them changes in direct proportion. For example, if your risk goes up, the amount of your premiums will increase. If your risk goes down, such as taking a driver safety course, then the cost of insuring those drivers goes down as well. The more you can reduce the risks drivers pose, the lower your premiums can be.
Organizations that provide their employees with driver safety training demonstrates their commitment to their work force. Bare minimum requirements and just meetings on regulations will not cut it. You must teach defensive driving, because what your company does…matters.
